They love her smile, her squeak, her smell, her spots and her long, long legs. Sophie la girafe is a unique toy made from 100% natural rubber and still hand made after more than 50 years.

She's a trusted friend and an ideal first toy, stimulating each of the five senses
from the age of 3 months.

Sophie la girafe still looks exactly the same today as when she was first made on May 25th 1961, Saint Sophie’s Day, hence her name.

She was an immediate success. Young parents recognised that she was a must for their baby, soothing sore gums when the first signs of teething appeared. By simple word of mouth, the little giraffe’s fame spread. Over the years, generations of children around the world have come to love her smile, her smell and her squeak whenever they've pressed her tummy or head!

Sight:

The dark and contrasting spots all over Sophie la girafe's body provide visual stimulation and make her easily recognizable to baby. She soon becomes a familiar and reassuring object.

Hearing:

Her squeaker keeps baby amused, stimulates his hearings, and helps him to understand the link between cause and effect.

Taste:

Sophie la girafe is very flexible and has lots of parts for baby to chew (ears, horns, legs). She is perfect for soothing baby's sore gums when teething and is completely safe.

Touch:

Sophie la girafe is perfect for baby's small hands. She is very light and her long legs and neck are easy for baby to grip. She is very soft to touch, just like baby's mummy, stimulating soothing physiological and emotional responses.

Smell:

The singular scent of natural rubber (from Hevea tree) makes Sophie the Giraffe very special and easy for your child to identify amid all his other toys.

To this day Sophie la girafe is traditionally produced by VULLI, a company based in Rumilly in the Haute-Savoie region of France. She is made from 100% natural rubber derived from the latex of the Hevea tree.  Vulli first heats this latex using a special process involving a technique called “rotomoulding” and then performs a series of 14 manual operations.
